Introduction.

Our team successfully completed the surfacing of a 15,000 m² Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA), including an additional 1,150 m² of perimeter footpaths and mowing margins. The project required the supply and installation of 1,400 tonnes of open-graded tarmac, laid to exceptionally precise tolerances of ±6 mm to meet sports performance and surface uniformity requirements.

All works were delivered using our in-house surfacing team and company-owned machinery, ensuring full control over accuracy, quality, and programme.

Scope of Works.

Surface Preparation & Level Control.

Final surface preparation ensuring the formation was fully compliant with design levels.
Surveying and setting-out using laser-guided equipment to meet the strict tolerance criteria required for sports surfaces.
Continuous monitoring throughout the works to ensure compliance with the 6 mm surface tolerance across the entire pitch.

Tarmac Surfacing to MUGA Area.

Area: 15,000 m²

Supply and installation of 1,400 tonnes of open-graded tarmac, designed to deliver excellent drainage and consistent playing performance.
Precision laying using our fleet of pavers and compaction equipment to achieve a uniform, high-quality finish.
Careful management of jointing, temperature, and laying sequences to ensure surface consistency across the full pitch footprint.

Footpaths & Mowing Margin.

Area: 1,150 m²

Construction and surfacing of surrounding footpaths to provide safe access for players and maintenance teams.
Installation of a mowing margin to allow easy pitch upkeep and clean edge definition.
All peripheral areas finished to the same high standard as the main playing surface.

Asphalt pavers calibrated for fine-tolerance sports work
Tandem and deadweight rollers
Laser-level survey instruments
Tippers and fully coordinated material supply
Experienced in-house surfacing crew trained in sport-surface specifications

This approach ensured consistent quality control and seamless coordination across all phases.
